Pregnancy Chiropractic in Boulder

Smiling pregnant woman looking at her stomach

Pregnancy changes your body quickly. As your baby grows, your posture and center of gravity shift, placing new demands on your lower back, pelvis, hips, and surrounding muscles.

At Network Wellness Center, our Boulder chiropractors, Dr. Daniel Knowles, Dr. Richelle Knowles, Dr. Jeff Parham, and Dr. David Bell, all provide gentle chiropractic care throughout pregnancy. Our approach centers on NetworkSpinal®, using light, precise contacts rather than forceful twisting or cracking.

Why See a Chiropractor During Pregnancy?

Your body has a lot of adapting to do over nine months. Everyday activities such as sleeping, walking, sitting, and getting up from a chair may begin to feel different as your pregnancy progresses.

Pregnant women may visit us for concerns such as:

  • Pregnancy-related lower back discomfort
  • Pelvic or hip discomfort
  • Neck and upper back tension
  • Postural changes
  • Spinal stiffness or reduced mobility
  • Musculoskeletal strain as the body changes

Some women also choose chiropractic care as part of their broader approach to staying active and looking after their musculoskeletal health during pregnancy.

A Gentle Approach with NetworkSpinal®

One of the questions expectant mothers often have is what the adjustment will feel like as their bodies change.

NetworkSpinal® uses gentle contacts along the spine rather than the forceful twisting or cracking some people associate with chiropractic care. We also adapt each visit as your pregnancy progresses.

Pregnancy cushions are available to accommodate a growing belly, and adjustments can be performed in different positions depending on how far along you are. You won’t simply be expected to lie in a position that no longer works for your body.

Care That Changes With You

There’s no one-size-fits-all pregnancy, and we take the same view of chiropractic care.

We perform re-examinations and re-evaluations along the way. Our non-invasive technology can assess aspects of neurological function, and we may monitor heart rate variability (HRV) to see how your body responds and adapts to stress.

These findings, along with how you’re feeling and how your pregnancy is progressing, help guide your care.

Meet Our Pregnancy Chiropractors

All four of our chiropractors care for pregnant patients and bring different experience to the team.

Drs. Daniel and Richelle Knowles each bring decades of chiropractic experience and a strong focus on NetworkSpinal. Dr. Daniel has practiced since 1997 and has taught NetworkSpinal programs to chiropractors nationally and internationally. Dr. Richelle has 27 years of experience, studied prenatal and pediatric chiropractic during chiropractic college, and personally received NetworkSpinal care during both of her pregnancies.

Dr. Jeff Parham has been a chiropractor since 1986 and has focused on NetworkSpinal for more than 20 years. Dr. David Bell brings additional training in several chiropractic approaches, including NetworkSpinal, SOT, upper cervical care, and pediatric chiropractic.

Together, they provide gentle, individualized care that can be adapted as your body changes.

Chiropractic Care After Baby Arrives

Your body continues to adapt after delivery. Feeding positions, carrying a baby, lifting a capsule or pram, and interrupted sleep may all place new demands on your muscles and joints.

Some women choose to continue chiropractic care during the postpartum period as their bodies recover and adjust to these new physical demands.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I see a chiropractor throughout pregnancy?

Care can be adapted as pregnancy progresses. Your chiropractor will assess your individual circumstances and determine whether chiropractic is appropriate for you.

How do I lie on the table with a growing belly?

We have pregnancy cushions and can modify your position based on your stage of pregnancy.

Does NetworkSpinal involve cracking or twisting?

NetworkSpinal uses light, precise contacts along the spine and differs from the higher-force adjustments many people associate with chiropractic.

What happens during a pregnancy chiropractic evaluation?

We’ll discuss your health, pregnancy, concerns, and goals. Your evaluation may also include non-invasive testing to better understand how your body functions and adapts.

Can I continue care after giving birth?

Yes, when chiropractic remains appropriate for you. Some women choose postpartum care as their bodies recover and adjust to the physical demands of caring for a baby.
